Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese star of Manchester United, announced shocking news to his fans around the world this Monday evening.
Ronaldo announced on his Instagram page the death of one of the two children born to his Spanish girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez.
Ronaldo was expecting his twin with Georgina a few months ago when he announced his pregnancy, but today he announced the death of his son.
“We are saddened to announce the death of our son,” Ronaldo wrote in a joint post with Georgina.
He continued: “This is the greatest pain that any parent can feel, only the birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live this moment with hope and happiness.”
He added: “We thank the doctors and nurses for the care and support provided, we are going through difficult times and at this very difficult time we want to protect privacy.”
