Euro international News : The minimum age for child marriage in England and Wales has been raised to 18, and the new law is expected to prevent forced teen marriage.
According to the law, the minimum legal age for marriage for adolescents will be increased from 16 to 18 years. This law is supposed to be implemented in the next few days.
Previously, 16-year-old teenagers could get married if their parents agreed.
But under the new law, parents who facilitate the marriage of their child under the age of 18 will be sentenced to a maximum of seven years in prison.
