A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck a remote and sparsely populated part of Tajikistan near Xinjiang province in western China on Thursday morning.
The United States Geological Survey announced that this earthquake occurred 67 kilometers west of Morghab and at a depth of 20 kilometers.
Marghab city is the center of Marghab district, which is one of the districts of Badakhshan mountain autonomous province. The population of this city, which is located among the Pamir mountains, is estimated to be around five thousand people.
Of course, the China Seismological Center announced the strength of this earthquake, which was felt in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kyrgyzstan in addition to areas in this country, as 7.2 on the Richter scale and assessed the depth of its occurrence as 10 kilometers.
So far, no casualties or damages have been reported as a result of this earthquake.
This earthquake occurred 17 days after the Richter earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which has left more than 48 thousand dead so far. Also, two days ago, another 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Turkey and Syria, and at least 6 people lost their lives as a result.
