Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish sang a song on the UK tour earlier this month that referred to the trial of Johnny Depp and Amberhard.
He now told Ammani magazine that he wrote the song after a document leaked to the media about the possibility of revoking the legal right to abortion:
“I was in a state of depression, I was losing my rights to my body, and then I go to the Internet and people are talking about their perception of this court.”
Johnny Depp’s trial against Amber Heard for six weeks had drawn the world’s public attention to the details of the lives of these movie stars. The jury ultimately voted in favor of Mr. Depp. But during this time and even after that, many users were reading the analysis and watching the videos of this trial.
“The Internet did not stop watching movie stars in court, as they were repealing the ‘Wade-against-Wade’ law,” Billie Eilish sang in a recent song.
“Face v. Wade” refers to a 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that made abortion legal.
The court’s recent ruling now allows any state to deny or severely restrict the right of pregnant women to have an abortion.
Billie Eilish : Women are losing their rights. Why are we talking about celebrity divorces?
