The Russian president warned today that any country that recognizes Ukraine as a no-fly zone would mean a war for Moscow.
“We will consider any move in this direction as a contribution to the armed tension in that country,” Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Airflot employees.
He added that the imposition of the no-fly zone would have “great and catastrophic” consequences not only for Europe but also for the world.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zilinsky has repeatedly called on NATO to establish a no-fly zone around Ukraine since the start of the Moscow invasion.
However, EU and NATO foreign ministers rejected the Ukrainian president’s request, saying it would lead to a full-scale war in Europe.
Mr Zilinsky called on NATO to say it was on the side of Ukraine in the war with Russia.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the Allies agreed that NATO aircraft should not be deployed in Ukrainian airspace and that NATO forces should not be deployed in Ukrainian territory. However, he described the decision as “painful”.
Today, the Russian president continued to deny the rumors that Russia wants to declare martial law in this country.
He added that the military situation would only be possible if there was foreign aggression, which Russia has not experienced at the moment.
