For the first time in the history of Saudi aviation, there was a flight in which all the crew and pilots were women. Flyadeal Airlines flew on Friday with a crew of mostly Saudi women.
Yar Jan is the youngest female Saudi pilot to take part in the flight. Earlier, Saudi female pilots had flown. But this is the first time a flight has been flown with all-female pilots and crew.
Emad Eskandarani, a spokesman for the company, said on Saturday that all seven crew members on the flight were women, except for the pilot. He did not mention the nationality of the female pilot of the flight. Saudi aviation officials welcomed the move by the company in support of its female staff.
Reports indicate that by 2020, the role of Saudi women in the Saudi employment force has increased by 33%. This rate was 19 percent in 2016, before the start of the reform project led by Mohammad bin Salman.
As the presence of women in the aviation industry increases, Saudi Arabia seeks to expand the industry and plans to invest about $ 95 billion in the sector by 2030.
As the presence of women in the aviation industry increases, Saudi Arabia seeks to expand the industry and plans to invest about $ 95 billion in the sector by 2030.
The strategy of the Saudi national aviation sector is to increase air transportation routes to 250 destinations and increase passenger capacity to 330 million people.
It is also increasing the number of its airlines and building new airports in Riyadh and six other cities.
The flight with the female crew and pilot takes place in Saudi Arabia, while until recently women were not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia, and many critics, including Iran, described the Saudi Crown Prince’s plan for social, political and economic reforms as miniature and dramatic.
Women in Saudi Arabia now not only fly freely, but also participate in professional rally races and now fly commercial flights in the skies.
