Volodymyr Zelensky and Ashraf Ghani; Differences between a patriot and a traitor
These days, following the Russian military invasion of Ukraine and the stand of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky alongside his people, the issue of Ashraf Ghani’s cowardly escape on August 15, 2021, is once again a matter of language. Some social media users have praised Zelensky and ridiculed Ashraf Ghani by comparing Zelensky’s resistance to the Russian invasion and his resistance to the army to the armed teeth of that country and the cowardly escape of Ashraf Ghani. Of course, there are those who still support their “fugitive father” for ethnic and tribal reasons, and say that his escape at least prevented a war in Kabul, the country’s capital. This means that Ashraf Ghani and his group of apostles escaped a so-called “potential war” in Kabul and did not allow the burned city of Kabul to be destroyed.
What is forgotten in the meantime, or ignored by its proponents, the “great fraudster” and the “germ of corruption and lies”, or denied by its proponents, is rooted above all in primitive and tribal sentiments. Indicates the peak of intellectual and spiritual youth of this group of people. As an observer of the situation in Afghanistan and a living witness of the recent developments in Ukraine, I first saw the cowardly escape of Ashraf Ghani, which destroyed the hopes of a nation of thirty million overnight and the collapse of a political system at the cost of thousands of soldiers, women And the child was born Afghan and foreign, I will never compare it with the courageous resistance of Volodymyr Zelensky, the army and the people of Ukraine alone; Rather, I consider the comparison between these two events to be incorrect for the following reasons.
1- Volodymyr Zelensky won the elections in April 2019 in Ukraine. Prior to that, he was a simple actor who made a name for himself in the hearts and minds of the Ukrainian people through the comedy TV series “Khadem Mellat”. Ashraf Ghani was a Western-educated man who flew to Kabul in 2001 on a Western plane after US forces cleared Afghanistan of the Taliban. With the support of his friends in Washington and London, he was appointed to various government positions, including Minister of Finance, President of Kabul University, and Director of the Program for the Transfer of Military Responsibilities from Foreign Forces to the Afghan Security Forces. Although Ashraf Ghani claims to have won high government posts in Afghanistan thanks to his knowledge and experience; But history and living witnesses remember that his appointment to the post of Minister of Finance, President of Kabul University and later Head of the Military Transfer Program, was deliberately carried out by his Western supporters to eventually bring him to the post of President of Afghanistan. Ashraf Ghani acted as a puppet until the last moment of his presidency, and when he was convinced that the United States was no longer by his side, he chose to flee, causing the collapse of a 20-year political order.
- President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelinsky received 73% of the vote of the Ukrainian people and won the presidency following a transparent and legal election in the presence of powerful and experienced rivals. Ashraf Ghani received only 2.94 percent of the vote in his first appearance in the 2009 elections and only 32 percent in the first round of the 2014 presidential election; His main rival, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, received 45 percent of the vote. When the issue of holding the second round of the presidential election was raised, the general perception was that Dr. Abdullah Abdullah was the ultimate winner of the election. The results of the second round of the Afghan presidential election, contrary to public expectations and due to widespread fraud by Zia-ul-Haq Amarkhail, the then head of the IEC Secretariat, showed Mr. Ghani the winner. Knowing that he had been declared the winner by a fraudulent vote, Ghani stood stubbornly and unitedly until, with US intervention and the presence of then-US Secretary of State John Kerry, he agreed to share power with Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the national unity government. Came up. The fraudulent victory of Ashraf Ghani in the 2019 elections is not hidden from anyone. In this election, he declared himself the winner through his nominees in the election commissions by manipulating the results of the votes. Peace talks between the United States and the Taliban were under way, and none of the political parties, including Afghanistan’s international allies, were in favor of holding elections; Because they wanted to pave the way for the Taliban’s political participation in Afghanistan by delaying the elections. Ashraf Ghani, however, not only discredited the election phenomenon in Afghanistan through widespread fraud; By doing so, it seriously damaged the country’s chances of achieving a real peace process.
3- In the 2019 elections in Ukraine, the political and social situation in this country was tense. Supporters of Russia and the West accused each other of treason, and each sought to oust the other and form a government endorsed by Moscow or Washington and NATO in Ukraine. In this situation, Volodymyr Zelinsky, as a popular politician, played the role of a unifying figure in Ukraine. Zelinsky, with no previous political experience, launched a campaign in which hesitant voters, split between Moscow and Western supporters, united to win by 73 percent of the vote. Ashraf Ghani – both in the 2014 and 2019 elections – emerged as a destructive and divisive force and used enough ethnic and tribal leaves to strengthen his group. The use of ethnic and tribal cards throughout Ashraf Ghani’s presidency is not hidden from anyone. One of them is the quota of entrance exam results, which became legal under Ashraf Ghani, or his words in a TV interview that said, “There must be an ethnic balance in Afghanistan’s prisons,” have not yet been forgotten by our collective memory.
- Russia’s lightning attack on Ukrainian territory not only surprised the world; It even put Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a difficult position. Until the last minutes before the Russian invasion of his country, he did his best not to attack Russia. He always spoke of peace, tolerance and dialogue, and even begged Russian dictator Vladimir Putin not to invade his country. The Russians, however, invaded Ukraine. Zelensky, while having both the opportunity and the vast opportunity to flee his country, put on a military uniform and stood by his people, defending his country’s people, people and flag. Ashraf Ghani fled the country in a three-wheeler by cowardice and fear, as more than 30 million people fled against the “primitive” forces, as the war in Afghanistan ended and Taliban forces declared they would not enter Kabul. And the “savage” left the Taliban alone. He did not even have the courage and dignity of an honorable death to be named as a model of sobriety and pride in the failed history of our land. Imagine that Volodymyr Zelensky is only 44 years old, and if he escaped, he might be able to survive for many years. But Ashraf Ghani was 72 years old at the time of his escape, and given his sound record, he may not live more than a few years. Zelinsky will be written in golden letters in the name of a national hero in the history of Ukraine and world history in the war against Russian aggression – whether he survives or is killed. Ashraf Ghani, while he is alive, his name and personality are listed in the minds and psyches of our society and in the history of the world as a coward, a coward and a liar and a fraud. He will not forget the lie.
In view of the above, I do not want to make a comparison between a superhero, a patriot, a popular politician, and a traitor, cheater, corrupt and coward; Because the comparison of these two characters is an analogy and does not make sense.
