Dutch police say a man hiding in the cabin of a plane is alive and has been taken to hospital. The plane in which the smuggled passenger was hiding took off from South Africa and landed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
Flights from Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city to Amsterdam take about 11 hours. The cargo plane made a stop in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, before landing in Amsterdam.
It is highly unlikely that humans will survive on the wheels of an aircraft, especially on long flights due to extreme cold and low oxygen at high altitudes.

Dutch police say the man’s age and nationality have not yet been determined.
In an interview with AFP, Dutch police spokeswoman Joanna Helmonds described the man’s physical condition as “stable” and added: “It’s exceptional to keep him in prison.”
A spokesman for CargoLux Italia confirmed in an email to Reuters that the passenger was on a flight belonging to the airline.
According to flight information, the company’s only cargo flight from Johannesburg to Schiphol Airport on Sunday stopped in Nairobi. It is not yet known whether the man hid in the wheelchair in South Africa or in Kenya.
