A senior German official wants German citizenship to be granted to skilled and professional people as soon as possible. He said Germany should be introduced as a modern immigration country and offer new perspectives.
Reim al-Abali-Radwan, Germany’s Minister of State for Immigration, Refugees and Integration, says he wants the process of granting citizenship to professionals more skilled than ever before.
“We want to activate multiple citizenships and facilitate the process of granting citizenship,” the German Social Democrat told the Der Spiegel newspaper on Sunday.
The German government official added: “I owe it to myself to make sure that the people who are here also want to stay here. This is much more than a contract, and requires language, housing, school, and community participation. “We are competing with other countries that used to be known as immigration countries, such as Canada.”
Reim al-Abali-Radwan added that Germany needs to present itself as a modern immigrant country that offers new perspectives. “This includes granting possible citizenship.”
The German Minister for State for Immigration, Asylum and Integration added, “The residence law should address the issue of Doldung and the prospect of residence as a matter of urgency. This signal could be important. “We need and do not want to fire them.”
