Euro international news :Mullah Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid, the son of Mullah Omar and head of the Taliban’s defense ministry, says the world is facing them and Afghanistan’s neighbors are causing “suffering”.
He made the remarks today (Sunday, May 25) in a speech marking the ninth anniversary of the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, the founder of the Taliban in Kabul.
“Afghanistan is facing many problems now, the world is facing us and we are witnessing the suffering of our neighbors, such as the Khost and Kunar incidents,” he said.
Eight months after the Taliban took control of Kabul, the international community has not yet recognized the group’s government, and sanctions against the group’s officials are still in place.
The acting Taliban’s reference to Afghanistan’s “suffering”‘s neighbors’s recent Pakistani airstrikes in Khost and Kunar provinces that have killed dozens of civilians, including women and children.
However, Mullah Yaqub stressed in his remarks that the Taliban would not allow anyone from inside or outside Afghanistan to disrupt Afghanistan’s security.
This is the first time the Taliban in Kabul have commemorated the death of the group’s founder.
Mullah Omar’s death was revealed in 2015 and it was said that he had died two years earlier; The Taliban, however, confirmed his death a few years later.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said at today’s ceremony that Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid had died of tuberculosis. He did not comment on the whereabouts of Mullah Omar, but said the Taliban founder was said to have died in Pakistan. Mujahid said that they want the next generations to continue the path of Mullah Omar.
