Google and Doctors! What? Yes, Many doctors scribble quickly on prescriptions for medications, making it nearly impossible for their patients to understand what they meant. Numerous tech companies have tried to address this issue for years with little to no success.
Google is now attempting to translate those incomprehensible texts.
The search engine giant revealed Monday that it is collaborating with pharmacists to decipher doctor handwriting at its annual conference in India.
Users will be able to either take a picture of the prescription or upload one from their photo library using the feature, which will be available on Google Lens.
The company’s annual South Asian market event, Google for India, features dozens of innovations. To facilitate the online experience of the upcoming millions of people in the South Asian market, the company also stated that it is working on a single, unified model to support over 100 Indian languages for both speech and text.
Google has over half a billion users in India, making it a crucial market for the company. However, it has also been one of Google’s most difficult years in the South Asian market, where it has recently received two fines from India’s antitrust watchdog.
