Haque said that in order to effectively coordinate and oversee social media businesses, the government wanted them to have headquarters there.

Google is the first Company to open offices in Pakistan
The Pakistani government has mandated that all social media companies, including Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter, register themselves there in order for the government to exercise restrictions enacted under the “Removal and Blocking of Unlawful Online Content (Procedure, Oversight, and Safeguards) Rules, 2021.” Google is the first tech giant to take this action.
